Our Summary of Walker Brothers Cowboy by Alice Munro

Alice Munro's book 'Walker Brothers Cowboy' begins with a narrator describing a walk that she takes with her father. They both walk through a town, passing neighborhood children they don't know. They also pass other landmarks, which include a lumberyard, junkyards, and a deserted factory. Their walk takes them through a vacant lot which they cross to get to the lake. They meet tramps and vagabonds; the narrator's father recounts the history of the Great Lakes, how they were formed. This is a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and when Indians lived around the lake. The narrator reflects on the immediacy and temporary nature of human life. Throughout the rest of 'Walker Brothers Cowboy,' Munro introduces the father's job selling shampoos and other items. By the end of the work, the narrator meets another character who invites her to dinner.
